Talent Graduate
"This bootcamp was the best decision I made for my working future. The course is made in an easy way to follow and helped me to understand lots of aspects of Digital Marketing, but also taught me how to follow my dreams to get my 'perfect job' or becoming self-employed. The atmosphere on the course is amazing. All the girls and mentors are very friendly and help each other.  As one of our mentors keeps saying "Sharing is caring". I'm already missing this course..."

Design Thinking and Innovation

Design Thinking and Innovation is at the core of everything you will learn on Talent.
Talent was conceived through the process of ideation, identifying problems and barriers encountered by women and the design of a solution in the form of a remote all-women boot camp.
The results speak for themselves.

Learning Environment

Talent is a flexible and online, Monday to Friday course programme.

It has been designed for accessibility and flexibility for women - mums, carers, working women, busy women.

People who should not apply

From some minority unfortunate experiences, we have a strict policy to ensure that those who want to progress, grow and succeed will obtain a seat on Talent. We do not tolerate abuse.

Talent is not for these people

  • The abuser (towards learners, mentors or team members / trainers)
  • The I know everything already
  • Universal Credit and use this to get your work coach off your back
  • The drop outs (you sign an agreement for 10 weeks full-time)
  • The lazy, argumentative disruptors
  • The bullies
  • The non-committal type
  • The poor attendance type

FAQ - Frequently asked questions

Is Talent for Women only?

Yes, Talent is only for women who are 19 or older and resident in NW England.

Will I need proof of age and address?

Yes. The application details all evidence required to obtain a placement on Talent.

Will I need to share personal data?

Yes. As this is a fully-funded targeted government programme with public money, it's essential that the right people are gaining places and this can only be tracked through personal data. Have a read of the Privacy Policy in the footer if you're concerned

Can I apply if I've already attended a funded Skills Bootcamp course?

No. This is classed as double accounting in public funding.

Can I apply if I'm on Kickstarter funded programmes?

Only if the Kickstarter course is complete and there is no overlap with this bootcamp.

Do I need to sign an agreement that I'll commit to 10 weeks?

Yes. We cannot afford for someone to take the opportunity of someone else and then drop out. We have 100% retention and attendance because our programme is world-class and the results. Do not apply unless you're 100% committed.

Will I need to attend any live classes in a real classroom?

No. Talent is delivered entirely online. However, we do hold real-world meetups with our partner Ernst Young in Manchester.

I'm on holiday or have some other event, which clashes with the launch but I really want to apply.

email Patrick and explain to: buzzstartacademy@gmail.com

Will I need a strong internet connection and my own device e.g. laptop?

Yes - please only apply if you have access to strong internet and a computer or laptop. If you're on Universal Credit, speak to your work coach. They can and will fund computers for accessibility.

Will I need to pay anything for the Talent bootcamp?

No. If you're successful with application, you will gain access to the bootcamp completely free and fully-funded.

Do I need to be resident in either of: Greater Manchester, Liverpool, Lancashire, Cumbria, or Cheshire ?

Yes. Evidence of your home residence is mandatory and will be required in the form of a recent bill or similar as is specified in the application landing page (next page).

Will I need evidence of my residence, age and other pertinent criteria?

Yes. Mandatory evidence required as explained in the application form (next page)

Will I need my National Insurance number?

Yes. This is mandatory evidence and how the government track if you're suitable and your ongoing employment progression.

When will we need to be online?

You will have mandatory attendance 2-hour live classes each day, Monday to Friday. If you happen to have a very strong reason for missing a class, you will be able to catch up via recorded lessons.

We recommend that you carve out as much time as you can from 9:30am - 3:30pm for Talent. However, you can schedule team meetings in your own time and also complete independent learning in your own time using the virtual campus.

Live classes account for roughly 10 hours per week and are mandatory attendance.

The rest is flexible for accessibility.

Do I need to be unemployed?

Yes and No.
Talent is for the unemployed, carers, return to work mums, self-employed, graduates and those aspiring self-employment.
If you are already in employment and attending on behalf of your employer, they must contribute 30% match-funding to sponsor your placement. If you're employed but intend to leave or change career or start you own business, then this does not apply.
email Patrick for any clarification: buzzstartacademy@gmail.com)

Will I get a job at the end of the bootcamp?

Interviews are guaranteed for open digital job roles with our partner employers. Jobs are not guaranteed. However, we provide an additional 10 weeks of employability support and 6 months wrap around. We have a high % of employment success. We encourage all our participants to follow a self-employed pathway and provide high level training for this.

The first and last weeks are independent learning via industry accredited digital course certifications, which means you have 8 scheduled weeks of live classes.

Will I need to have been in full-time employment, self-emplyment or education within the past 12 months?

Yes and no.
If you have been out of employment for more than 12 months, you will need to provide some additional evidence to back up your application e.g. caring for a family member or some other genuine reason. You will also need to prove your ambition to gain a place on this bootcamp.

Where and how will I learn?

All training and work experience is remote.
You will work from home or a quiet space with a strong internet connection. We highly recommend where possible and especially during live class time, you find a quiet space with no distractions and ensure your internet connection is strong. This isn't always possible if you have kids etc. so don't worry too much. Kids are extremely welcome to the Talent family.

URGENT

Only apply if you meet all of the criteria and are committed to 10-weeks

We understand entirely that you might have questions and concerns. For example, you might be a mum who needs to do school runs. You might work part-time or night shifts. You might care for someone.  We've created the programme to be flexible and adaptable to meet your needs. We're here to support you through the entire programme. All of our alumni graduates will testify to this.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and there is no course like it in the world.

How Talent is funded and Data Privacy

The programme is fully funded by the UK government (DfE) Fast Track Digital Workforce Fund and there is no cost to participants. The government track the success of each participant and their onward employment journey by collecting personal data up front. Please read the Privacy Policy in the footer to find out more about data use. BuzzStart Academy in no way will use your data other than for the use of course programme related promotional support, or will we share it with any third parties other than the Department For Education and our contracted lead company, We Are Digital.

If you're coming to the course from the department of work and pensions (dwp) there are additional grants you can access for tech equipment. Ask your work coach for information. Tell them you're applying for the government's Skills Bootcamps initiative.

Final check:

  • Did I read all the FAQ?
  • Do I meet all of the criteria?
  • Am I fully committed to 10 weeks learning and a great future career?

Caveat Emptor:
Only apply if you are 100% committed. It is completely unfair to take someone else's opportunity if you know you're not commited or unlikely to complete the bootcamp.
